Addresses

As shepherds it is vitally important we can reach the "sheep" quickly, face-to-face.

JwC has been prepared especially with emergencies and disasters in mind.

JwC allows you to keep up-to-date addresses and associated maps so you, or, if necessary, someone you direct can reach a distressed one quickly.

Calling by phone is fine, but often in an emergency that can fall very short of what the dear one truly needs of us.

Obviously there is no way to know exactly where each "sheep" is at all times, nor is it proper to do so when no real cause exists.

But adequate preparation for what MAY be possible is doubtless best and is rightly expected of us.

JwC stores addresses for Households, Emergency Contacts, Doctor Offices, Emergency Services, Hospitals, and Service Calls.

NOTE: Some jurisdictions may allow you to store Personal Addresses ONLY with the person's permissions. Please adhere closely to any governing laws.

Please strive to keep all complete and up-to-date!

Current address information consists of several items, some optional:

  • Physical place Number on a named street. (Currently not used in Mapping. May change in future.)

  • Physical Street Name.

For mapping it is impossible to know if an abbreviation will be usable, although the most common (like St. for Street) probably are.

  • Any additional, useful physical street address data, such as a Suite Number.  (Not required for Mapping)

  • City (Town, Village, etc.)

  • Governmental Unit (State, Province, etc.; NOT County, Parish, etc.)

  • Postal Code (Not required for Mapping)

  • Country

Governmental Unit and Country can be abbreviated in the most common way used by postal and/or mapping services.

(Example: USA for United States of America, NOT US, U.S., or U.S.A.)

For each of the above a Map can also be prepared in advance of need. See Maps.

In a true emergency or disaster photos and / or legal documents about an individual may also prove invaluable.

Please store these only as local law allows and the person agrees to permit. Please keep them up-to-date.

Witnesses cannot disrespect laws or anyone's privacy.

Congregation members may also have an email address, although that would likely be of limited immediate value in an emergency.

However, if the person permits, please store it in JwC.

Even if your JwC data is not sufficient to reach a distressed sheep, please use any other means reasonably available to do so.

Their need will not vanish just because our effort has desisted.

Always act in full harmony with the Organization's Documents.
